Hello
I am a storyteller with a sketchbook and a dream

Katreen Cook is a self-taught artist and children’s book creator. Born in Moscow, she spent her childhood between the bustle of the city and the quiet magic of the Russian countryside, where her love of storytelling first took root.
At eight years old, she wrote and illustrated her first book—and she’s been dreaming of crafting picture books ever since. Now, she’s on a mission to publish and share powerful stories that inspire wonder, empathy, and imagination in children everywhere.
By day, Katreen leads large-scale technology projects; by night, she’s tucked away with a sketchbook, bringing to life tales inspired by nature, family, and the precious moments of everyday life.
She lives in Melbourne with her husband, two wonderful kids, and Coco—their endlessly energetic staffy who insists on being part of every story.
I'm currently working on two original picture books with full-colour, mixed-media illustrations bringing heartfelt stories to life.
White Wombat Wants a Wash is complete and ready for publishing. This tender tale is now on the lookout for the right publishing home.
My second book the Egg is in development, taking shape one joyful sketch at a time.
Follow along as these stories grow from first drafts to finished books — and help me bring them into the hands of young readers everywhere.
Join a joyful journey through the wonders of the Australian wilderness! Jump aboard a hot-air balloon and soar across the southernmost tip of Australia, where surprises await at every turn. What’s that down below—shaggy, sandy fur and strong, stumpy legs? Why, it’s a white wombat wanting a wash, of course! Told through the curious eyes of young explorers, this lyrical read-aloud celebrates the magic of nature, the thrill of discovery, and the rare beauty of the world around us.
Based on a true story—yes, white wombats really do exist!
Step into a heart-warming tale in a town just like yours, where one family dreams of a baby to cherish, and another holds a magical secret: a tiny frozen egg, waiting quietly for its moment. Egg is a tender tale inspired by the true story of embryo donation. It follows the journey of two families connected by kindness, hope, and the dream of new life. From whispered wishes to joyful kicks, and finally a baby surrounded by love, this story gently celebrates how families are made in all kinds of beautiful ways. Perfect for read-aloud moments and conversations about love, generosity, and the many paths to parenthood.
