Meet the Children's Book Author

Hello, fellow dreamers and story lovers!

I believe the world is full of extraordinary ideas just waiting to become engaging children stories.

I have always been someone who likes to look a little closer, ask a few questions and wonder

......   what if....... ?

When I was eight years old, I wrote and illustrated my very first book — in crayon, of course! I loved drawing, making up stories and letting my imagination take me to places I hadn't been before. Little did I know that the dream of creating picture books would stay with me all these years later.

These days, I still love a blank page, a new idea and the possibility of where a little imagination might lead.

Curious by nature

I am inspired by the world around me - Australia's extraordinary wildlife, the beauty of the natural landscape, family life and those little everyday moments that can turn into something quite magical when you stop to notice them.

One of those moments was encountering a real white wombat. Yes, they really do exist! That experience sparked the idea for my picture book, White Wombat Wants a Wash, and reminded me that the real world can be every bit as surprising as anything we dream up.

Because sometimes, the most extraordinary stories begin with something real.

I write and illustrate my own books, bringing together my love of pictures, words and the unexpected.

I hope my stories encourage children to step away from the screens, be curious, embrace their imaginations and discover the wonderful things waiting just beyond the page.

The little things matter

I am a firm believer that some of life's loveliest moments are also the simplest.

A shared laugh. An unexpected discovery on a walk. A curious question from a child. Or settling down together with a favourite book and discovering that you've read the same page three times because there's so much to talk about!

Family is a big part of my world, and I love the idea that books can bring people together. In our busy, screen-filled lives, I hope my stories encourage families to slow down, spend time together and find their own wonderous adventures — whether that's exploring the wilderness or snuggling up for a cosy bedtime story.

If one of my books inspires a child to ask a question, a family to head outside or a little reader to see the world differently, that makes me very happy.

School & Library Visits

One of the loveliest parts of being a children's book author is sharing stories with young readers in person — and perhaps planting a little seed of inspiration along the way.

I love the idea of children discovering that books don't simply appear on shelves. They begin with an idea, a little imagination and someone brave enough to put pencil to paper. Who knows? A story shared today might inspire a budding author, illustrator or storyteller of tomorrow!

I was recently delighted to take part in Book Week at Oakleigh South Primary School, where I had the pleasure of presenting at a whole-school assembly and facilitating interacting class sessions with students Grades 1 to 4.

Alongside book readings the interactive illustration activity invited students to get creative with ideas for their book character. Seeing young readers engage with the stories, share their ideas and discover their own creative possibilities was a wonderful reminder of why I love what I do.

I am looking forward to visiting more schools, libraries and community events ahead. I would love to share the stories behind my books, introduce children to the creative process and encourage them to discover the storyteller and illustrator within themselves.

Teachers, librarians and event organisers, I'd love to hear from you!

Whether you're planning a Book Week celebration, or age-appropriate interactive classroom activity or a library reading, I would be delighted to explore children book ideas tailored to your students and young audience.

You're always welcome to get in touch. I'd love to be part of your next bookish adventure.

And when the next story calls…

I suspect I'll always be that eight-year-old with a crayon in hand, wondering what to draw and what might happen next.

There are so many wonderful ideas to bring to life, so many questions to ask and so many stories still waiting to be told.

I'm very glad you're here. Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you'll join me for a little adventure!

Happy reading, and don't forget to look a little closer.
